Long term rental cars: what are the most important elements to be evaluated?

The fleet manager, or anyone who has to evaluate and optimize a company's fleet often does not possess all the knowledge that would be needed to move safely among the various proposals. Often those responsible for this difficult task makes another "job": purchasing manager, or general services, or production, or staff, etc.. What are the elements that the fleet manager should list and evaluate, at the moment he is preparing to seek bids for a contract for long-term rental? This includes, in addition to the financing of the car (the "iron" as they say in the jargon of the field), a series of important services that "make the difference" between a supplier and another and can be a solution, if well managed, or a source of problems, if poorly managed or partially absent. So in evaluating the various proposals, the customer must verify the presence or absence of these services and find out how they are carried out.

In particular, we talk about:

1) ordinary and extraordinary maintenance (where and how it is done: shop, body shop, electrician, etc.).

2) breakdown (which phone number to call, response times and methods of repairing or replacing the car)

3) administrative (road tax, etc.).

4) Insurance: RC, fire and theft, fully comprehensive, driver injury, such as a maximum and with such deductibles

5) replacement cars in case of arrest or theft (of which group? For how long maximum and minimum?)

6) number of tires included (including heat if necessary).

It will therefore be useful to explore the opportunity to get a rental car in pre-allocation, pending delivery of the definitive (at what cost?), The ability to possibly purchase a used car at the end of hire (based on what parameters? Eurotax? four-wheeler? With that off?), deepening the operation and availability of the service "contact center" (on which days and times), and finally, to clarify how the observation and charge for any damages found upon return of the car, at the end of rental.

It 'clear that the failure occurs in one or more of these characteristics and contractual service can bring disappointments unexpected (in terms of extra costs, for example for tires extra-contract), but, on the other hand, the elimination aware and reasoned certain services deemed unnecessary, may save.

And the canon ending? Whatever it is, it is important that it remains fixed and invariable for the duration of the contract and not subject to change due, for example, the increase in road taxes or the cost of money, or the expected reduction of the residual value. By chance, perhaps, to review the contractual term and miles based on the actual distance in time.
